Re: Console Controller Feedback

So we've been posting our suggestions for a while on here but I don't see them reflected in this update.

If anything, we've asked for less actions and more specifically less repetitive actions. I looked at the changes with confusion. It just baffles me. This isn't simplified and user friendly and that's what we did ask for. I'm left so disappointed again and concerned for my RSI and dexterity problems. I play the Sims every afternoon when I have to rest a chronic pain condition, it stops me from climbing the walls with boredom.

I designed a retail lot on Monday and the amount of repetitive actions to set items for sale left me with my hands cramped up. Now I think build mode will be doing the same...and I'm a builder.

  • Exactly this! I have arthritis and I'm a builder so I already struggled with the amounts of clicks and now it's out of control. We got nothing we really wanted for console and they just made a bunch of changes nobody wanted! Wth

@simsandtruecrime I'm in a similar situation. My hand is so painful now, the next day. I thought they'd make it more user friendly for anyone with dexterity or pain issues like this or RSI. It's brutal. Plus the getting used to it is half the problem because I'm instinctively hitting buttons that don't work anymore and it's wasted futile clicking.
We asked for a few shortcuts and less repetitive clicking when they opened up suggestions. This was a real curveball to say the least.
If they'd only left the old functions there instead of creating "dead buttons" I'm clicking away at.

I can only speak on what I have heard from other players as I have not yet updated my game for various reasons involving the new controlls.

The above quote is one reason I am too scared to update my game (which is a shame as it means I won't be able to purchase the next pack). I also have bad hands and from what I've heard, I won't be able to play without the new controls causing me some kind of pain or discomfort. It's a shame a game that prides itself on inclusivity has neglected to think how these changes might impact us.

I also have an eye condition and have difficulty finding the cursor at times so am sad that it apparently plays such a big role in build mode now. If i need to use the cursor to scroll through the items and colours in the catalogue as though on a PC it will be very difficult. My sessions would have to be a lot shorter to give my hands and eyes a break. It will be a chore to play.

It's a bizzare change that has rendered the game unplayable for some. I hope this feedback truly is taken on board and that the controls are reverted back to the way they are.

@ShopGirl98 I really hope they reverse it. I can not play with the new layout. At all. I actually cried yesterday because I think this is the end of the road for me and Sims
  • And I forgot to mention that every time I try to undo something in build mode, IT OPENS THE FREAKING SEARCH!  Every. Single. Time. Omg I can’t. I’m seriously ready to go back to Forza and never play Sims again.

I'm so sorry to hear that! This was a really thoughtless and ignorant update on their part, and I truly hope that can redeem themselves by apologising and changing it back.

Making the console version closer to the PC version will make things easier for developers (when it comes to updates etc.), especially as they start to focus on the new games. But it leaves some of us to suffer.

@ShopGirl98 The really annoying part is. I have every single pack and expansion etc so that's ALOT of money I've spent on a game I can no longer play.

@LochfyneRose019 Others said you can toggle it on and off but you absolutely can't. I've been trying and failing since the update to play and use build mode. Nothing works. It's impossible. They have totally broken it. Toggle doesn't do 💩

I am a console player and a builder. If the sims team read this, next patch could you go back to the old ways to play on console and keep the adjusting to tv screen. I am regretting updating my game because I usually take about an 1 hour building the hold shell and most of the inside, it took me a hour to build the shell. Please revert the changes as I have played since 2017 on console and are used to the old control buttons. Thank you and please solve this, the game is unplayable for me.
