Hi, I'm wondering if your solution might help my own posted. If you have done the uninstall solution, did it delete any packs you already have too? I'm worried if I try this I'll lose all my packs too.

@manolobeach I have a regular PS4 but I do have a new hard drive. I have only experienced crashes every now and then, and usually a console shut down and restart stops most issues.
Does the crashing occur on a new save? If it does then try reinstalling the game, but it if doesn't happen on a new save, you may just have a corrupted save file.
Yep...still occurs in new saves and I even tried an old save from March when I had no crashing issues and it still crashes. I’m holding off on the reinstall cause I don’t want to lose my sims/progress and have not been able to save to the PS4 cloud cause it will take hours with my connection So I’m trying to figure that out...and seeing other people trying and failing to stop crashing after a reinstall scares me tbh. I noticed that the after the update, the crashing is immediate when exiting build/buy and after taking pictures. I’m able to play for a while with just the travel crashing if I don’t take pictures or go into build/buy when playing with a household.

@manolobeach on PS4 you can back up your saves to USB.

- @PoptartJuniper Thank you!! This is so helpful.
I think I may have found (at least one) source of the in game crashing. It happens after sims take a picture. I had a sim take a picture and a few seconds later my PS4 crashed. I went back in and had another sim take a picture (tried with 2 different cameras) & switched back out of camera mode and the game crashed a few seconds later. - PoptartJuniper6 years agoHero (Retired)
@manolobeach The issues with the camera's were fixed in the December patch. The patch notes are available right on this forum, stickied to the top.
Please ensure your game is fully updated. PS4 had a system update today as well, so please be sure you have both the updates.
If you are fully up to date, and have completed the other troubleshooting steps, but not reinstalled the game, I would recommend you uninstalled the game and reinstalled it.
Mine is still crashing after both updates. I cant travel at all 😑
So I did the uninstall and reinstall. I backed up my saved games on the online storage and on a flash drive to be safe. It took hours cause I have all of the packs but it was easy and I had my save files when I loaded back in. It also re-downloaded the update but unfortunately my game still crashes and now my sims freeze when prompted to do something...they didn’t do this before. So now I really don’t know what I can do anymore. This is the only game that crashes on my PS4. They need to fix this, it’s absolutely ridiculous that people are reporting it and nothing is being done to fix it.
Yes!! Exactly what @manolobeach said word for word! Ever since the recent patch, my game has been crashing with error code (CE-34878-0) whenever I travel, when I exit build mode, or when my sim is just doing random commands. I am not uninstalling and reinstalling the game nor am I “powering off my console and letting it sit for awhile”. That literally doesn’t fix the problem nor does it do anything for mine and everyone else’s sanity. I feel like EA, The Sims Community or whoever is in charge of bug fixes high key dgaf about console players who play this game religiously. I’m assuming the next update for us console players will be when Discover University drops this Tuesday, and HOPEFULLY there will be some kind of solution to this foolery. EA, FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CE-34878-0 error is a general error for PS4 and has nothing to do with the Sims game specifically.
1. Turn off Your system completely, let it sit for a few minutes and power it back on.
2. Make sure your game is up to date.
- Go to the PlayStation home screen.
- Highlight the game you're playing and press the Options button on your controller.
- Select "Check For Update" and install any updates that are available.
- Restart the Console completely.
3. Make sure your Console system software is up to date.
- Select Settings at the top of the PlayStation home screen.
- Choose "System Software Update" and allow any system updates to install.
- Reboot your PlayStation 4.
User @KEW0701 Had luck deleting their autosave file and restarting their console. See Comment Here.
4. Uninstall and Reinstall the Game.
Go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Delete.
Select a game or application.
Set check marks beside the data you wish to delete or Select All.
Select Delete > then OK to confirm your decision.
5. Drastic Steps. Backup your Drive.
- Put the original Hard drive back in if you have replaced it.
- Re-initialize the PS4
- @PoptartJuniper You’re right. No one can help me because anyone who has provided troubleshooting solutions hasn’t helped those who has complained about this problem thus far. If the error I’m receiving on PS4 is a ”general error code”, then why is the majority of users having the same error? I don’t expect you to give me an answer since you don’t work for Sony, but unplugging your console, and uninstalling and reinstalling the game doesn’t help since 100+ users are saying that it didn’t work; or even made the problem worse like in @manolobeach ‘s case. My game was fine ever since update on the 5th of December in addition to my sims 4 game and gaming system being up to date. So do me and all of us a favor, and provide a solution that’s going to work instead of stating the obvious troubleshooting methods everyone has done since the Dec 5th patch/update..

@ohh_dee7 If the above troubleshooting steps did not help with your PS4 issue, and you have gone through all of them, the next step is to contact PS4 support directly, which I linked in my previous post.
- @PoptartJuniper Why would I contact PS4 support when the problem is with The Sims 4? If you cannot help me; which is evident, then I’d rather you say so given from your unfavorable troubleshooting advices to other users with the same PS4 error code. Your response has not solved anything but actions that lead to no resolution on the users part.
- @PoptartJuniper It worked (I had a PS update and I did step 4 and now it works just fine)! Thankyou!
This is on EA’s part. Spoke to a representative at Sony and none of their “solutions” have helped! Looking through this thread it seems I’m not the only person dealing with this ever recurring problem (since 2018!!!). Will EA take the many complaints seriously and work to fix this problem ? Or will they continue COPT AND PASTE the same solution that numerous people have mentioned don’t help? I expect this problem to be fixed as a loyal and paying customer! If the problem is not solved in the coming week, I will be getting in contact with my Attorney General and contacting the Better Business Bureau and filing a formal complaint against EA, Maxis and Sony!

Agreed. I am fed up of being told the same copy/paste troubleshooting tips that I mentioned in my OP that I have already tried! It doesn't matter what I do, the problem is still there. As a result I have had to stop playing until a solution is available... and I have thrown £32.99 down the drain on an expansion pack I cannot use, or more so don't dare use in case it further harms my game.
I refuse to believe it is my machine/game saves/households that are the issue when it is evident that many people across different platforms are experiencing the same issues. I recall a while back when my game crashed EVERY TIME I tried to save, and once again I was fobbed off with "turn your ps4 off and on again, check for updates etc" which of course did nothing to fix it. It wasn't until EA released a patch that everything went back to normal, which leads me to believe that this would more than likely be needed here- please bear in mind that I am not a programmer or IT expert of any sort, this is more of an educated guess here!
It just seems way to coincidental that my game, along with many others, is acting up since December updates and/or installation of University.

The repeated troubleshooting is from posts being merged into this thread to keep them together. I don't work for EA, I am just trying to help others get their game running.
It's also basic troubleshooting to determine if the issue is with the game or the console. It's important to go through the troubleshooting steps for your console to rule the issue being with the console out completely. If no one troubleshoots the console, or refuses to and just say it doesn't work, there's no data to say otherwise and it remains a console issue.
Please make sure you have followed all the troubleshooting steps listed for the console.
OMG, same here! I play on a PS4 with no absolutely no mods. I have all the additional EA content except for Vampire, Discover University, Strangerville and Realm of Magic. Ever since the December update my game crashes multiple times every single time I play it. It crashes regularly when trying to travel, immediately after taking a photo (which makes the photographer career completely unusable), and when entering and/or exiting build/buy mode. It has also sometimes just randomly crashes while not doing any of those things. Beyond frustrating! I'm almost to the point where I just don't want to play it anymore. And I'm certainly not investing any more money in additional content until they start figuring out and fixing these issues. All of my PS4 software is up to date and I don't have any issues with any other games my family plays on the PS4 so I don't think the issue lies with the PS4.
Last night, after the game repeatedly crashed, I finally googled the error code I kept getting when the game would crash and saw that it is typically related to a corrupted game file. We have multiple PS4 consoles and the game would crash on all of them, plus SIMS was the only game crashing at all, so it made sense that at least some of my issues could be from a corrupted SIMS game file. The article recommended rebuilding the database on the PS4, which sounded scary to me, but was actually quite simple. I followed the steps to rebuild the database and then tested it earlier today. I was able to travel a few times as well as go in and out of build mode without crashing. I didn't play for a long time though, just popped in to do some quick testing, so I'll know more after playing a more lengthy game session. I did not try to take a photo with the camera either. I will try that as well next time I play. I'll post again with my findings after playing more and seeing how it goes. Just throwing it out there in case it is something that other people want to try. :-)
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it did not help correct the crashes.
I’ve been having a similar issue except the crashing occurs at random intervals and usually when my game is idle.
I’m on console as well and this seems to have started after the recent patch in February. It makes me paranoid to play because I have to save constantly.
I have been having the same issue and it also seems to have started with the February update. It is completely random when it will crash. So far it has been while loading empty lots, entering build mode, exiting build mode, creating Sims, editing preexisting sims, opening menu to save, mid save (that one made me want to scream). Maybe it has something to do with the community stuff being added? All I know is that I can no longer even enjoy my game because I have to save every other minute so it makes doing anything a chore
Did it fix the problem? I think I'm having the same issue as you.
I just wanted to give an update in case it might help someone else in the future. I was able to fix my problem. It turned out the Autosave File was corrupt. Which kind of makes sense, because the game would mostly crash when I was exiting CAS, exiting Build Mode or if I had been playing for awhile. Probably times that the game triggers an autosave. Anyway, I went into the Saved Data Management setting on the PS4, deleted the Autosave File, restarted the PS4, and it hasn’t crashed and/or given me the error code since. :-) Hope that helps someone else! I know how incredibly frustrating it was!
Oh, I almost forgot to say, that I did follow another user’s advice and went through the Rebuild Database steps on the PS4 - which sounds scary but was actually super easy. The game continued to crash after that though, so it was deleting the corrupted Autosave File that finally worked for me.
