Will a fix come in the form of a new update patch, or a tweaked version of the same one? Upon hearing the issues with this update, I paused it so it wouldn't update. But, an update is needed as my game's been a bit buggy and pretty laggy without a fix.
- @Sashas0nic Turning the audio off doesn’t help at all.
I will also confirm that the sound thing is not really working for PS4
My sound thing is holding up but I’ve also got ‘match speed stereo music’ unticked as well. Dunno if that’s making it a bit more stable too. I’m also not spending a lot of time in build mode at the moment but I am in the scientist career so going backwards and forwards between lots daily.

@patrickcui69 np: it did say: "....Sim Guru Nick also describes a fix that may help, involving Audio Settings".
However, there are many different issues with the crashing, and it states more here: (in the thread Crinrict moved this to.) and also in this post
The audio trick seems to be working for me -- I set every single sound option to 0% and unchecked the bottom two options on the audio tab. I can't hear the jaunty tune my Sim is composing on her violin, but hey, good for now. As someone else suggested, I also deleted some of my extraneous save files and Sims and there doesn't seem to be any more lagging either. On a side note, I don't have much loaded on to my PS4; just a few games, and I'm opted out of pretty much everything I can (except connectivity to the download store because I obviously need Sims expansion packs). I know it's an application issue, but maybe it's crashing because the update is hogging too many resources, etc.
- I confirm the reinstallation and the muted audio do not solve, useless waste of time,
OK, someone on yt told me the PS4 crashed because of sims 4 music and audio so I did this:
Went into auto settings and turned all the audio, voices ect down to 0.
Then I went into music and unchecked as many songs as I could(I could not get them all because the courser would freeze but I got about 30 song.
The game went from crashing every 30 minutes to crashing every 2 hours, still not great but it was an improvement.
Give it a try you might be lucky like me and get more time between crashes.
@MaxScia72 Well, it was a suggestion. It helped the last time my game got buggy, and it still crashed after my first attempt. I thought I reinstalled the game wrong.
I'm going to give it a second go anyways to see how things are in game. I erased a ton of screenshots I shared in the forums when I attempted to share a story. I figure this bug is going to force a do over, and I have copies saved.Maybe with space freed up on my PlayStation and the fresh install, something will work better. I'm sure fixing this might take time.
I'll time the game to see how long I can play before the game crashes. I want to be able to enjoy this game, I really do.I turned off the master sound after attempting to play the game after reinstalling the game. The game still crashed. I will say that the audio is lost prior to the game crashing. It may be easier to time saving the game around losing sound than playing with the sound off.
My recommendations for build mode did successfully make things in live mode playable. The biggest problem is how it takes time to change stuff in Build Mode, and it seems the more time I spend in Build Mode or go in and out of Build Mode, the greater the risk for the game crashing.
This update is not the first time I've had the game crash because of time going in and out build mode or spending too much time in build mode. It just never happened this frequently. After timing it:
I spent 1 hour and 30 minutes in build mode before the sound cut out.
I was able to spend another 2 hours working in build mode in silence before the game started to lag.
I've got some screenshots of furniture that moved while adjusting rooms on other floors.
I'm still playing after 3 hours and 30 minutes without the game crashing.
I did save my progress when the sound cut out and after completing significant parts of the house.
I think I'll be ready to give playing the game another go soon.
I will restart my game to see if the sound comes back.@Metior_Ice I’ve definitely noticed it I spend any prolonged amount of time in build mode that’s when I usually will get crashes. If I stay out of build mode it’s better and I get longer between crashes.
After 49 minutes of playing the game, the sound started going bad.
When I entered build mode for around 7 minutes the sound went back to normal.
After returning to the game for 12 minutes, my sim mother developed a sentiment with her daughter after potty training.
About 2 minutes after the sentiment was formed, the game crashed.
I went to build mode to add solar panels to comply with the Green Energy N.A.P. It's one of the few N.A.Ps. that doesn't make items spawn in my sims inventory.
If someone uses N.A.P.s or intends to play a certain way, it might be helpful to plan in advance what you want to use in that household. With the game unstable, it may be difficult to go in and out of Build Mode while playing the household.
The game was much more stable in Build Mode when I entered it from the Manage Worlds screen.
I was able to build for almost 4 hours this way.
Entering Build Mode from Live Mode seems to be much more unstable.
The game crashed after several minutes in build mode this way.
The appearance of a sentiment and the game crashing shortly after might not be a coincidence. Not sure how I can raise a toddler when the parents form a positive sentiment and the game crashes.
- @MortyGothspinky Awesome! Thanks for sharing this information. I will definitely try it; anything helps before I start trying to get my money back!
it's usless, the game worked well before the last update apart few bags.- They wanted to fix and upgrade the game, they made the whole game unusable.- i dont' want to make controversy.- they have to understand frustation of those who love this game and have spent money and time on it, especially in lockdown.- Don't do complicated things.- nobody needs them
Cant they revert back to previous version while solving the latest, problematic version????? So that we able to play.....
I think that would be the fair thing to do as the hot fix we're all expecting this week probably won't solve all issues anyway. But I think they wouldn't and couldn't go back to the previous version as that would make Snowy Escapes unplayable for all and they of course want to sell that, too. So we all just have to suffer, wait and basically be the beta testers for that update - if we want to or not.
@fendywooThats what i been questioning here this past week. It’s called damage control. Delay snowy escape but let people play the game, or postpone this sentiments thing but let people play.
So you are sitting here, trying to tell me not being able to play snowy escape is worse from a selling point of view than not being able to play at all.
