This error message usually means the name you're trying to use has already taken by another EA account user, or because the security filter has flagged the name as inappropriate. 

In these cases, the live support team wouldn't be able to remove the name from another account, or manually force the name update through to get it passed our security filter either. I'd recommend trying a variation of that username to get something close to the name you were entering.
