Sorry to read you are experiencing this issue. From your description, it sounds as if the update or game itself didn't install properly.
If you are still having this problem, could you open your game, press L1+R1+L2+R2 at the same time and introduce version in the text box that will appear? What version does the game tell you it's installed when you do that?
If the game crashes again, please, take a screenshot or copy the error message you receive so we can take a look.

My Girlfriend bought the game on PS4 and all of the DLC- Over 100 dollars. And like the others are saying it blue screens and we hit report the problem over and over- happens every 5 minutes or so- I think everyone is dealing with this but not everyone is getting on here to report it like we didn't since we were reporting it on the blue screen. My other games are working fine for long amounts of time so it is definitely sims. I think you guys have many screen shots and error numbers by now and reports sent in so hopefully they will work on a way to update this to where it will quit blue screening.

I wanted to do an update here. My girlfriend deleted the game and re-downloaded. She re-downloaded the dlc and everything. Evidently about the same time an update came through. One or both of those things have improved things dramatically. It very very rarely crashes now at all. Hours of game play here without any big problems. One last things of note: She had a rare blue slug in her game inventory and every time she tried to place the slug it blue screened her. She deleted the slug and no more problems : ) Thank you for any work on getting this to run smoother. For us at least the re-download and/or update evidently helped.
i have tried all the trouble shooting on the Sims 4 (PS4) and it continues to crash. How do i get a refund? I have spent almost 100 dollars for the game and expansion packs.
I am not happy with the product. I have had all the Sims games and none were this bad.

SYSTEM UPDATE
1. In the main menu XMB, using the controller scroll right to the Settings.
2. Scroll down to System Software Update icon and select it with X button.
3. If there is an update available, choose the option Update Using Internet and select it with X button.

RESTORE LICENSES
1. In the main menu XMB, using the controller scroll right to the Settings.
2. Select the option for PlayStation™Network/Account Management.
3. Choose Restore Licenses.
4. Select Restore.
5. Restart your console
STARTING PS4 ON SAFE MODE (REBUILDING DATABASE)
1. Press and hold the Power Switch for approx.. 10 seconds. The console should chime a notification sound to inform the player it is starting in Safe Mode.
2. When the PlayStation 4 make the notification sound, de-press the Power switch.
3. The PlayStation will now begin in Safe Mode.
4. Select 5th option - Rebuild Database
Note: This action scans the drive and creates a new database of all content and may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items.
TEST NETWORK CONNECTION
1. In the main menu XMB, using the controller scroll right to the Settings.
2. Scroll down to Network icon.
3. Scroll down to Test Internet Connection
4. The PlayStation 4 will now test basic network information

I keep having this problem but only with one game file that I have five generations on so I really don’t want to restart, plz fix this so I can keep my family 😃
the fact that its been 2 years- 2 YEARS , and they still haven’t done anything. i hate this😭😭
I checked what version game I have and it says I have version 1.24 installed. my game crashes when I try to travel or enter build and buy. I even emptied my library to see if that would help and it hasn’t.
