id like to add to this that it appears something in game is corrupting files i have the same issue on multiple occasions and ive not used any console commands. reinstalled and hard reset to no avail. we can save when we start a new save but it eventually prevents us. for me only 40 minutes into a new game. Guys this issue is your end not our hardware. i have the new xbox x for christ sake.
EA StaffI'm sorry to read you had this problem to save your game. Unfortunately, we cannot reset the trial time, but I would like to suggest a workaround in case this happens again:
If your game freezes when you try to save, make your Sims travel somewhere - this will make your game auto save. Next time you open the game, select to load the autosave, and you should find your Sims in the same point they were just before travelling.
Please, give this a try and let us know if it works for you.

I traveled all over the place and it did not auto save. I lost all my played time yesterday. It did not autosave except for once, and refuses to save manually at all. I am re installing everything, which will take hours.
Don't bother. Tried it. Doesn't fix it.
I'm having the same issue. It lets you save for a while. Right when I'm doing well in the game it just simply don't let me save anymore. I hit save but it doesn't save. THIS IS GETTING VERY, VERY ANNOYING! FIX IT!
I have been having same issue on xbox 1x and found that if i go to xbox settings, then network and advanced - alternate mac then lear the mac and restart, i am able to save.
They need to patch the sims 4 to fix this issue. I have to do the same thing before I am able to play battlefield one multiplayer as well. seems to be on EA side of the house.
I will try deleting the reserved space if i have another issue.. thanks for that tip!!
What myself and the wife are doing now is to save early.. and save often.. then if we get the save bug.. we just restart the xbox and do not lose too much.
I am hopefull that EA will have a patch for some fixes needed soon and as stated above, they (EA) could at least drop a few notes to us here saying that they are working on it.. we have even bought all the expansions/ad-dons available 🤔

I keep manually saving as often as I think about. Sometimes it will freeze during the process, forcing me to quit the application and lose progress.
With the PS4, cache is cleared when the system is powered down for 10-20 minutes. Therefore, every night.
Would love to see the ability to change how often autosaves occur.
Had a problem for the first time yesterday that my brother has been experiencing since he got the game, every now & then when going to save, the game will enter the save screen, but return quickly having not saved & nothing was able to get me off the pause menu, I had to quit out of the game & return later.
Having read through some of this thread I can see that some people are having problems after traveling & this happened to me about 30 mins (real time) after traveling back from the bar, also, when I traveled to the bar one of my sims had lost all of their emotions, anyway, the game had auto saved when I traveled back to the home lot.
I have traveled in this game before, to the park, to the nightclub, to the library & even to a public pool I created without any problems.
When I loaded the game up after the bu I was able to play it & save it all in the same slot as before with no problems, but even so, this is a really annoying problem to have hanging overhead.
ADDITIONAL: My brother is playing on a PS4 & I'm on a PS4 pro, he has less space on his hdd than I do, don't know if that helps.
This is why I do not understand EA. I recently bought SIMS 4, and every time I have an issue they make it seem like its my console's fault. I have the Xbox One S and only 13% of my storage is used. They tell me check your connection, restart you Xbox, it doesn't make any difference. Why bother to release Sims 4 if their is not a working save feature.
