The Sims 4 - Critic career wont let me choose branch Art/Food Critic

I have joined the Critic career and when getting to the select branch option of either food or art critic I cant select either to join. It allows me to view each of the jobs but the tick does not appe...

Just making sure... have you leveled up the career far enough to choose a branch? You start off as a generic critic and have to do that job until you reach level 4. At level 4 you choose which branch you want.
