@YearJuunior is your console also up to date and your online connection okay? The game version should be 2.0.2.2310. If so I'd next try reinstalling your game and content. Instructions are in the troubleshooting steps here as well as how to powercycle your console:
If these steps make no difference I'd clear locally saved data from your console only. In Sims 4>Manage Game and Add-ons go to Saved Data. Pick the set of data next to your gamertag/username and be sure to only select delete from console. Then immediately load up the game and it will sync up with the cloud.
For issues with the Reaper event if you are in and out of the game with your other issues you can lose your connection to your EA account. So I'm attaching an image of how your Game Options should look to auto reconnect. Also you need to have Online Social Features enabled and have your console online.
