I used the first step from this post here "

Symptom:

  • Game not loading
  • Black screen
  • Frequent crashing 
    after I had already created a symlink and my game was working. I was starting to receive the "game is already running message" so I renamed my electronic arts folder. However now when I start the game it creates a new folder and an all new game. None of my saves are there because they are all on my external hard drive. How do I fix this?

      So origin now recognizes my hard drive but I’m still getting the error message. Even though sims is not running currently. Any other methods to try?
