Hello,
I want to move my sims 4 from origins on my Mac laptop to my external hard drive. How would I go about that? is it as easy as just dragging the sims 4 from my laptop to the new folder on my external hard drive, then changing location in origin to that new folder on external? or am I missing something? I tried doing that but when I click to play sims nothing happens. maybe I did the locations wrong? Do I have to uninstall from origins for it to work on external (since its copied on to external)?
Please help.
Thank you!!!

The Sims 4 folder that contains your saves and other user data is a completely separate entity to the game installation location in Origin.
The only way to move the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder is to create a symlink. Further explanation and links to guides in the opening post on page 1 of this thread.
If you want to move the game installation only to an external drive, that link is also in the opening post on page 1.

I was looking at your instructions but I have a question. when using terminal..how do I find out the following info: where can I find it on my Mac.
- My Mac user account/Home directory has full Administrator rights and is called test
- My computer name is TouchBarMBP
thank you

That’s an explanation of my setup showing why my Terminal window shows test@TouchBarMBP. It is for illustrative purposes only.
