Yes the game works without the mods no issues.

the format of my external hard drive is : ExFAT

@nadineabdoun  I know Sims 4 .package files don't work on an exFAT drive in macOS, and that might also be true on Windows.  So please format the external as NTFS if your computer runs Windows, or APFS if you happen to have a Mac.  You'll of course need to move everything off the external first.  The only exception of the Sims 4 program files if you want the game installed externally too.  In that case, just uninstall, and reinstall after the drive is formatted.
