Ok. But to correct you because others may be misled by your description, you have not created a “hyper” link. You create a symbolic link (symlink) in the Documents > Electronic Arts folder to the Electronic Arts folder you move to the external drive. And you do not create a symbolic link to store the game installation in the external drive, this is changed easily in EA App > Settings > Downloads.

I say hyper link because they have become interchangeable now days, but technically you are right. Either way I say it, I have been told I am wrong and it is the other one. In this case I will use symbolic. 
Yes, I installed game file using the EA App to my external. What the app doesn't do is allow you to play the game from an external directory, That is why I needed the symbolic link.

    They aren't interchangeable. A symbolic link is a symbolic link, it is not a hyper link of any kind. I think whoever is telling you otherwise is mistaken 🙂

    Yes, that is why I created this guide on how to store the EA/TS4 folder on an external drive. The game only ever creates it locally in Documents and if it isn't there it will create another one. By creating a symlink the game still thinks the folder is in the expected location. If Maxis gave us the ability to change the folder location we wouldn't have to resort to the command line to make our games work due to low internal storage space. Hopefully one day they will.....
