@Bluebellflora I am on Mac, the storage eon my mac is on full capacity i want to move my mods/cc onto my external hard drive and get rid of it on my computer to free up space, so when i dont have my external plugged in my mac will run freely and when have the hard drive plugged in i will have my game and cause its 1TB i have more space on my external to download more cc/mods

I've merged your posts into the master thread on creating a symlink, which is the only way you will be able to store your Sims 4 user data on an external drive and have the game successfully load it. See the opening post on page 1 for further instruction.
