"I play The Sims 4 on a Mac, and I was running out of storage space, so I decided to install the game on a USB drive formatted as exFAT and also move the 'Electronic Arts' folder there. To 'avoid issues,' I used a symlink so the game would access the 'Documents' folder and redirect directly to the folder on my USB drive. The game opens perfectly—until I try to play with mods and CC. I install a mod, and when I open the game, I get this error:
'Failed to initialize: The game could not start because the following file appears to be damaged. If the file is a mod, remove it and try again. Otherwise, repair or reinstall the game through Origin.
*/Users/St1G0/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods/._thepancake1-MoreTraitsInCAS-v1t-1.112.package [60c399f9:29f00e76:00000000:4b0d852b]'*
And it’s not just with that mod—it happens with all my mods and CC. The weirdest part is that all mods are updated to the latest version, and I manually moved them to the 'Mods' folder. (I’m using the EA App, by the way.) I’ve tried everything and still can’t fix it. Please help!"

It's not odd. It's because you didn't correctly format the drive. See the opening post and follow the link to my full guide for further help.
