So I originally had all my files (EA folder with mods + CC) on an external drive, with the actual game installed on my internal drive, everything was working well. Unfortunately my SSD stopped working (seems to be a connection problem), so I've lost all my EA files and folders. I have some CC, tray and saves backed up elsewhere, but my main issue now is I need the game to create a new EA folder so I can add those backed up items into it.
I just reinstalled the game to a new SSD, have downloaded all my game packs, but when I try to launch Sims, the icon in my dock pops up, the EA app minimises to the dock, and then the Sims icon disappears and EA comes up back (basically nothing happens). No error messages or anything.
I'm assuming this is because I have no EA folder, but everywhere online says run the game and a new folder will be created - but the game won't launch so I can't run it!! Helppp please, how do I get it to create a new EA folder?? Idc where it's created I can always move it to the external drive after
Did you delete the symlink in the Documents folder you previously created? That symlink will point to your old drive, you need to trash it. Then launch the game so a new Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder is created, quit the game, move the new Electronic Arts folder to the external then create the symlink. See the opening post in this thread for further explanation and links.

yeah this was the issue, I realised after i posted!😂 The symlink was still there, once I deleted it everything worked :)
Thanks!
