Could you both trash the Options.ini file in your Sims 4 folder and see how the game performs? This will reset it back to default settings. If it plays as you would expect then you can try upping the settings incrementally until you're happy with the graphics and gameplay.

@Bluebellflora I will definitely check once I get home. I hope it helps. I was so sad yesterday trying to play.

@Bluebellflora okay I moved the folder to the trash. Played with the setting and it seems to be just CAS that is affected.

Thanks 🙂
Interesting that it's now just affecting CAS. Any CC in CAS? Trash the localthumbcache.package file in the Sims 4 folder are moving out the Mods folder and see how CAS then behaves.- candiecoatediv7 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Bluebellflora Yes. But once I deleted the options folder I removed my mods folder started the game and it’s still laggy in CAS. I played with the setting as suggested. Before the update I had everything set to high with exception of edge smoothing this was set to medium. When I removed the options folder and played with the settings. I notice the lag when I zoom out in CAS to change clothing etc. when I’m zoomed in for face and head details it’s unnoticeable. When I zoom out the “animation” of the sim is very slow in addition to the voice not in sync with the sim. But when I zoom it it’s fine. I’ve ran the game with my settings that I had before the update and I haven’t noticed any lag but I’ve only done a few tasks like watch tv, mix drinks, walk around and so far I haven’t Noticed lag. Only in CAS. I’m at a dental conference for most of the day but when I get to my hotel room I’ll delete the options folder again and the local thumb cache as well and see if that works.

I finally recently updated my Sims game for the last couple of patches and I booted up the game and CAS is so extremely laggy, its unplayable and nearly gamebreaking. And it really sucks because I was about to buy the two most recent packs that have came out and now I can't.
Here are my specs for my computer :
macOS Mojave
Version 10.14.6
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
I have all the packs, minus the most recent last two as of August, 17th 2019. My graphics in game are all set to the highest because my computer runs smoothly and perfectly fine. I do use mods/cc, but when I turned the game on for the first time after updating it I took my mods folder out.
I hope this gets fixed asap because EA always puts Macs bugs on the back burner and focuses more on PC. If this was a PC bug it would have been fixed the same week the bug was found, but instead this bug is going to be an issue for at least a year before its fixed.

@iimlana With updates the Mod/cc has been disabled. All you have to do is go to your settings in game and re-enable it. As for the lag....it’s definitely frustrating. I’m not a computer expert but I was able to play perfectly fine with just a 4gb then with the addition of two large pack purchases (cats and dogs and seasons) I started to have issues and upped my memory to 16gb. So in my opinion this lag shouldn’t be an issue. I was able to get it to barely noticeable with lowering my edge smoothing to medium. Hope this helps.
- 6 years ago@candiecoatediv I turned my edge smoothing to from high to medium just now and my CAS works perfectly fine like it did a couple of months ago. And I checked it with mods too!
I haven’t checked the live gameplay yet, but I wonder if the gameplay is laggy with some people if changing it to medium would help.
Or if gameplay isn’t affected if you can just switch to high edge smoothing so you don’t have to deal with lower graphic settings while playing.
