Did update, now game is crashing my computer

I did the update and the game is now crashing my computer entirely. The first time it was crashing I was traveling with my sim to meet with Emmett for the blast from the past event as soon as the park loaded my computer crashed on a second attempt, I got as far as Going to the park then switching to another Sim to go to work. Everything was seemingly fine and then mid interaction my computer crashed again. I have already repaired the game a couple days ago. I proceeded to follow the next troubleshooting step which is to start an entirely new sims 4 folder. I opened the game and before the game could even finish opening. It crashed my computer.

another update: tried running the game with no travel, to see if it was only when traveling. played fine for about 20 minutes or so and then while my sim was dancing the game crashed as did my computer.

    - Which exact model Mac? A 13" or 15" MacBook Pro?
    - Which version of macOS?
    - If a clean folder and a repair doesn't fix it maybe the issue lies with your Mac but knowing the proper specs would help before going further into that
    - Have you reset the NVRAM on the Mac?
    - do you play on battery or always plugged into power?
    - do you play fullscreen or windowed? If only one try the other and see if the crashing still happens

  • mine has been doing this too! I can start a new save with new sims and play for hours fine.... but if i exit the game and go back to the newest save it now crashes. Game feels unplayable now. All other applications on my MAC are running fine, no crashes. Unless I play the sims 4 in a save file...

ldntown520 Thanks. Can you play in windowed mode and see if it still crashes? Have Activity Monitor open (Applications > Utilities) and sort by memory. When you load the game flick between the game and Activity Monitor every few minutes and see how much memory the game is using, probably ~3.5-4GB. Look at the bottom of the Activity Monitor window and see how much memory you have available on your Mac when the game is launched. It's definitely worth doing this after restarting your Mac as that will clear virtual memory (hard disk space used as additional RAM).
