[Info] The Sims 4 macOS Catalina Troubleshooting

    Hi everyone,

    We just released a patch for the game to address some of the issues you have been reporting:

    Update 10/23/2019 - 1.56.55.1220

    Hey Simmers!

    Small but important update for macOS players. Catalina players have had a bit of a rough time thanks to some changes in how applications access files. This has made game play a little bumpy. This patch makes things work more reliably for Catalina users!

    Additional information:

    • Simmers on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) will be prompted to allow The Sims 4 access to the Documents folder. Grant this request.

    Oh, and if you pressed 'Deny' when the game asked for your permission to access Documents, let's fix that!: go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Files & Folders -> Fine “The Sims 4” in list and check the “Documents Folder” check box

Just updated my Mac to Catalina and my sims 4 game will not launch at all

    Every time I try to lacuna is says unable to start

    The sims4 is already running 

    Ive restarted several times with no change

      @Natty200417  Please remove your entire Sims 4 game folder from Documents\Electronic Arts; you can put it on your desktop.  Launch the game, and a clean folder will be created with no content.  If you can play with this folder in place, you can move the contents of your Saves and Tray folders (and Mods if you use them) from the old game folder to the new one.

        I've done all of those and now my game crashes within minutes of loading. I don't know what to do, been all over Google trying figure it out

    either can I... going on a few days now. I'm so irritated and EA wont respond to me.

      I've tried contacting them also with no success...

      I also just bought The Sims 4 Realm of Magic too ☹️

      Just testing The Sims 4 in windowed mode which is working!! however I can't save anything ☹️

    Mine will launch but crashes as soon as I try to load a game

        okay so it worked, heres how to open the sims 4 while keeping all ur cc/mods & sims/buildings/etc on mac catalina

        STEP ONE: on your desktop, open system preferences 

        STEP TWO: open users & groups

        STEP THREE: click the lock to make changes (make sure you're on your admin user)

        STEP FOUR: below login options, there is a + and a -. click the +

        STEP FIVE: make a new user

        STEP SIX: log out of origin

        STEP SEVEN: make a new folder

        STEP EIGHT: put your cc folder in that new folder

        STEP NINE: move the UserData.lock file into that new folder

        STEP TEN: transfer it to the other user, you can put the new file in icloud or on a hard-drive and open it in the new user

        STEP ELEVEN: log into the new user if you haven't already

        STEP TWELVE: go to documents > electronic arts > the sims 4 > mods and install your cc into that empty folder

        STEP THIRTEEN: go to documents > electronic arts > the sims 4 and scroll down until you see a folder called UserData.lock, delete that file and instead put your UserData.lock file from the other user

        STEP FOURTEEN: update/open the sims 4

        STEP FIFTEEN: enjoy the sims 4 <3

        en primer lugar, no puedo hablar español muy bien; estoy utilizando google

        aquí se explica cómo abrir los sims 4 y mantener su contenido personalizado y sims, edificios, etc. en mac catalina

        UNO: en sus preferencias de sistema abierto de escritorio
        DOS: abrir usuarios y grupos
        TRES: haga clic en el candado para realizar cambios (asegúrese de estar en su usuario administrador)
        CUATRO: debajo de las opciones de inicio de sesión, hay un + y un -. haga clic en el +
        CINCO: hacer un nuevo usuario
        SEIS: cerrar sesión de origin
        SIETE: hacer una nueva carpeta
        OCHO: ponga su carpeta de contenido personalizado en esa nueva carpeta
        NUEVE: mover el archivo UserData.lock a esa nueva carpeta
        DIEZ: transferir a otro usuario, puede colocar el nuevo archivo en icloud o en un disco duro y abrirlo en el nuevo usuario
        ONCE: inicie sesión en el nuevo usuario si aún no lo ha hecho
        DOCE: vaya a documentos> artes electrónicas> los sims 4> mods e instale su contenido personalizado en esa carpeta vacía
        TRECE: vaya a documentos> arte electrónico> los sims 4 y desplácese hacia abajo hasta que vea una carpeta llamada UserData.lock, elimine ese archivo y, en su lugar, coloque su archivo UserData.lock del otro usuario
        CATORCE: actualizar / abrir los sims 4
        QUINCE: ¡disfruta los sims 4!
