M2 MacBook Pro hot when playing Sims 4

it caused my m2 pro to heat up to 200 plus degrees and gave me second degree burns Edit - split from different thread and edited title to better reflect issue (Bluebellflora)

    Ok. So you were using a physical thermometer and not an app that properly reads the temperatures? I wouldn't use that as any kind of gauge of temperatures, it will only measure the casing. To get a proper read you need to know CPU/GPU temperature, battery temperature, fan speeds, a lot more information.

    200 F isn't unusual when gaming on a laptop. I play for hours over years on different Macs and the one that used to have an app installed measuring temperatures regularly sat at around 100 C/212 F without causing any damage to the laptop or myself.

    How did you manage to give yourself second degree burns when your laptop was on a stand?

    If you're that concerned maybe take your laptop to Apple to get them to check the fans are correctly working.
