Mac sims 4 Screen tearing and horizontal black lines

I hadn't played The Sims 4 since Eco Living, so I decided to reinstall it on my Mac this week, and I immediately began noticing some issues. The biggest one is a visual glitch, the best way I can describe it is the screen "tearing" whenever I slide the camera left or right, I don't know if it has anything to do with the fps rate, but that was my first guess. While I was running a vet clinic, some black horizontal lines appeared across the middle of the screen, and my game lagged for a bit. These same black lines seem to apear for a millisecond every time I go into the options menu, a loading screen, manage worlds, etc. I have also noticed that my game is running much slower than it used to, with loading screens taking three times as long. I thought this was weird, since have never had problems running The Sims 4 on this computer before, but I began lowering the graphics settings anyway, going from high, to low, and even trying laptop mode, all to no avail. I have tried removing my mods folder, repairing the game via Origin, and turning off edge smoothing. I also experimented with windowed mode, since that seemed to work for some people, but all it did was lag my game more. Even if I am unable to fix this issue, it would be nice to know if it has to do with the game itself due to a patch update, or if something is wrong with my computer. Thanks!

I haven’t been able to identify a pattern in when the black lines appear, but I will keep a look out and take a screen shot when I can. I have however read up on vertical sync after you mentioned it, and that might just be it! I will try turning it on to see if that makes a difference and get back to you as soon as I can.

Vertical Sync worked! The camera movement is nice and smooth and I no longer see black lines when going into a loading screen. Thank you so much! I've been trying to crack this one for days, I didn't know what vertical sync was so I never would have tried it on my own. Thanks again for helping out a fellow noob🙂

Great! If you hover your pointer over the graphics options settings you will get a little pop-up explaining what each of them do 🙂
