MAC: The Sims 4 delay between clicking and interaction menu appearing

Hey everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with The Sims 4 on my Mac. Every time I click on a Sim to bring up the interaction menu, there's a 7-second delay before anything shows up.  

Mac version: macOS Ventura

any suggestions on how to fix it?
