Missing files

Hi all, I was playing on my Macbook Early 2015 256GB 8GB RAM and then I decided to upgrade to High Sierra. Once I updated it, the game stopped working. It shows a black screen when loading. I have tried all of the things recommended on other threads to try and fix this issue but none have worked. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it to see that I am missing files, such as custom background music, recorded videos and many more. I have moved the sims 4 file to my desktop to regenerate a new file but a new one doesn't appear. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times but it just won't play!!! I don't have mods. I really hope this can be resolved. I have attached an image of the files that are in The Sims 4 folder

Please could you click on your saves folder once to select it then go to File > Get Info. Under the General > Where section near the top of the info window please copy and paste the location of your saves folder here.

@BluebellfloraHi, thank you for the reply. I tried that and the game still isn't working. I pay for extra iCloud Drive storage so it shouldn't be an issue to do with storage. Thank you for your advice though!! 😀

Did you see the bit about when your internal storage is full? Does that apply to you? If your internal storage is too full, your Mac will push all the Documents folder contents to the cloud. If that happens the game will not see your Sims 4 folder and writing to the folder will not be possible because there is no room on the drive.

@Bluebellflora Hi, I have 60GB of storage left so I wouldn't think that internal storage would be the issue? I'm starting to think that there is an issue with my laptop rather than the game itself. I was thinking about upgrading my laptop in the upcoming months, do you think that it would make a difference? Many thanks!!!!!!

Oh yes, 60GB is fine. Can you create a new user account on your Mac and see if playing in that account makes a difference?

@Bluebellflora Hi, so so sorry for the late reply I've been busy and fixing The Sims wasn't my number 1 priority!!! I tried adding a new user account on my mac and seeing if it would work but it didn't ☹️ . Thanks for the advice anyways. Do you think this could be an issue with my computer and if I need a new one or are they're another other solutions I could try? Thank you!!!!

Could you open Terminal and copy/paste the following command then hit enter/return. Do this in your usual user account:

find ~ -type d -name "*saves*" 2>/dev/null

It will take a little while. When it's done please copy/paste the results here.
