Mouse Shift/Drift problem

When playing The Sims 4 on my Mac, I encounter a specific problem in CAS mode. When trying to rotate the character or edit details—basically, in situations that require mouse movement—the mouse starts drifting on its own, regardless of whether I use a mouse or the trackpad. For example, when I'm trying to edit the nose details, I right-click and drag the mouse to the left, but it either moves in the opposite direction or resists the movement. It sometimes happens in both directions, but it occurs more frequently when moving left. I'm not using any CC or mods, and my computer settings are as follows...

Macos 15.3.1

I saw this in the other thread that was checked as solved, but the only thing that seems to work is un-checking ”Retina Display” in the Graphics settings in-game. It’s automatically checked from the start, but un-checking this seems to get rid of all drifting. The graphics quality isn’t really the same and the cursor looks ”smaller” but adjusting the UI-scale is helping a lot.

I tested your TS4 folder in my game on an M1 MacBook Air, M4 MacBook Pro and Intel iMac and didn't experience the drift. Not sure why it's happening to you but it may be OS or hardware related. Have you changed the default settings in System Settings at all? Or enabled any Accessibility options to do with the mouse or trackpad?

That's really helpful info and glad you've found a workaround although hopefully EA will look into it. You should be able to have Retina display enabled and play normally.

  • Unfortunately, even with the "Retina Display" setting turned off, the issue persists. It's especially annoying in CAS when trying to drag the sliders. It is also very noticeable in Live Mode when using the free camera (Tab) — moving the mouse DOWN often makes the camera tilt UP, which is the opposite of what it should be.  I hope this gets fixed because it’s a significant annoyance.

I also still have this issue even with the retina display setting turned off. It's particularly frustrating in CAS and makes it really difficult to play the game.
