My sims 4 game won't launch (isn't responding)

Hi, 

I've never had an issue like this before but I tried to launch my game yesterday after adding a couple of mods and I got an error message that said "Unable to start: Cannot start because game data is missing or damaged. If you have Mods installed please remove them and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via origin." I don't use origin. I use the EA App. Anyhow, I took out all of my mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and repaired it twice. Now, I no longer receive the error message. I try to launch the game and just get "Sims 4 isn't responding." I've tried everything. This is extremely frustrating. I play on a mac and recently updated it. Please advise. Thank you.
