"Origin is not able to download The Sims™ 4 to /Application folder?"

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to update my base game on Origin last night. During the update, I got this message and then the download failed. Does anyone know a fix?

"Origin is not able to download The Sims™ 4 to /Applications/The Sims 4.app/Contents/__Installer/installerdata.xml_DiP_STAGED"

When this happened the first time, I downloaded the Reset Origin and followed the instructions.

Today, I tried updating the base game but I still get the same error message and then the update failed. I cannot play the game.

It's strange because all of the other Expansions and Packs want to update. Most have finished downloading. But when I try to update the Base Game it downloads for a few seconds, fails and prompts the error message.

I did notice today on the Help.EA page there was a message that said "Can't Connect on Sims 4? We're working on it." Maybe this is what is causing the issue? I can't find anything more about this error message?

    @jtrekkin 

    This isn't related to the yellow banner about a current issue but you may still encounter that depending on the language your game and Origin are in. Let's fix this first though 🙂

    1. In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
    2. Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
    3. Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place.
    4. Now open Origin, right click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click Repair Game.

    I was able to complete your first three steps. I've had to do this before.

    When I open origin, the base game still would like to update. It's at 99% and then fails. I'm hoping that eventually if I keep going back to update it will get to 100%. 

    I am not able to right click The Sims 4 in my Games Library to Repair Game since it keeps wanting to update. I'm hoping if it can update, I'll be able to right click upon completion. Again, many thanks for your help!

    I canceled the download since it would not move from 99% to 100%. It would keep failing and I would have to sit there and hit 'resume' every 1 minute. After I canceled the download I I hit tried to Repair game and it crashed. 

    I will try to Reset Origin again, and follow those steps again. Thank you!

    Well, I tried the Reset. 

    It tried to repair and got this message after it failed:

     Origin is not able to download The Sims™ 4 to /Applications/The Sims 4.app/Contents/__Installer/installerdata.xml_DiP_STAGED.

    I tried to UPDATE the game and still got the same fail and error message.

    Seems like I'm stuck!

    ☹️ Yes, it seems as if something has corrupted in the Origin download process. You've now tried the super repair and reset tool, I think your only option is to uninstall. This has fixed the issue for many others in the past but I appreciate is a pain to do.

    Do you get the Uninstall option when you right click on the game in your Origin games library?

    Hi again!

    I reinstalled the game. I loaded it up, and it's missing all of the packs and expansions lol. So I'm downloading all of the packs again. Hope this resolves the issue!
