- @Bluebellflora Do you know how to turn off the screen captures on Windows- instead of Mac?
- @FurtherHat
Nope. You should ask in the PC tech forum https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/bd-p/The-Sims-4 I try that and it still doesn't work
- @Bluebellflora It's cmd+shift+3
It can be changed in system preferences -> keyboard -> shortcuts
It can be changed to something else or disabled entirely (untick the box). - @BenjiThatFoxGuy
What is? Sorry, I'm confused as this is an old thread, not sure what you're posting in answer to. Hi, this shortcut is related to MAC keyboard although she's wondering about the shortcut in the game, which I'm having the same issue.
I could notice the command + shift + C makes screenshots when inside the game when I want to open the cheat box instead.
I thought this could be because Macbook keyboard for screenshots have the same shortcut but no. Shortcuts are differents. So i guess I'll need to change the shortcut for screenshot in the game. Would you know how to proceed with it?
Cheers

You should just be able to press the letter C in-game to take screenshots.
The cheat box is brought up by pressing CTRL, Shift and C, even on Macs. If you need to press CMD, Shift and C it could be because the modifier keys in System Preferences have been changed? It is not
How do I get to system preferences? Sorry my first time owning a Mac and just downloaded Sims4.

Apple has a ton of really helpful guides on their website for Mac users https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh15217/mac It definitely isn't the preferences on Mac. Mac screenshot shortcut is SHIFT - COMMAND - 3
This a a problem with something in the game. I am also having a problem with this.
And there seems to be no way to change any preferences in the game itself for screenshots or cheat screens or otherwise.
Has anyone found a work around or a solution so far?
- @NixTipsy
What are you having a problem with? If you press C to take a screenshot in-game does it not work? I am not trying to make a screen shot.
It makes a screen shot instead of opening the testing cheats bar.
The problem is that the shortcut given for macs for the testing cheats bar makes a screenshot.
It isn't a problem with the shortcut keys on the machine but a problem in the game.
the shortcut keys on the machine for screen shot are Shift-Command-3 and not Shift-Command-C
Shift-Command-C is supposed to be shortcut in game to open the testing cheats bar - instead it makes a screen shot. Presumably because of pressing C.
and so far I have seen this problem listed in several places but haven't found any solutions.
- @NixTipsy
No. Bringing up the cheat bar is using CTRL, Shift and C, it always has been even on a Mac. Not CMD, Shift and C. thanks. I had tried that many times. It was bringing up the bar but the testing cheats commands weren't working.
Turns out I had the wrong command to turn on the cheats as well as the wrong shortcut keys.
Specifically - listed as testingcheats on (as given in the apocalypse challenge rules) - when it should be testingCheats true
thank you for your help!
- @NixTipsy
"testingcheats on" should also work. True and On are interchangeable. Carl's Guide is excellent for cheat help https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/cheats.php - wolfinavoid7 months agoSeasoned Newcomer
Is there a way to turn off the screen capture "feature" built into the Sims 4? If I wanted to take a screenshot I would do it with my computer's normal keyboard combination. I often press the in game screenshot button by mistake and I want to turn that off completely.
I also have the same problem. I turned off all the things in settings on my laptop but it still makes screenshots. I tried everything. I don't know how to turn off screen capture in the game. The problem is C not control or the command button. My sister has the same laptop and it works for her but not for me. Could someone help me pls. thx
- @NixTipsy I have the same problem. It is because of teh C and not the other buttons. I really need to know how to turn it off.
