It's November 2022 and this is still an issue! Incredibly disappointing, you shouldn't have to mess around which save files and iCloud settings to play the game. This is incredibly frustrating!!! I am trying the different suggestions but having to un-sync my iCloud documents drive is too big of a risk for me. I can see that this has been an issue for YEARS!!! YEARS!!! Without being able to save and load progress the game is redundant, which is such a shame ☹️ Is there a way to report it or press EA for a response?

What's the problem? Your internal storage getting full isn't EA's or Apple's problem, it's yours.- 3 years ago@Bluebellflora Thank you for replying so quickly, your contribution on these forums has been really handy with trying to solve the issue. My local storage isn’t full, but I don’t want to un-sync documents from my iCloud every time I want to play. Fingers crossed apple will release an update which allows you to select individual folders to upload to iCloud, rather than an all or nothing approach. Or EA will release a patch that allows the game to work with iCloud Drive. Do you know what the best way to report this to EA is so they can look at it? Once again thank you for help on these forums, I’ve spent quite a few hours looking for solutions and your posts have been really helpful.

Thanks 🙂 I'm not understanding the issue though. If you don't have Optimise Storage enabled the game should load your TS4 files fine as they are still local on your Mac. It only becomes an issue when disk space is extremely low so iCloud Drive pushes everything to the cloud, hence the game can't see it. This is the setup on one of my Macs and it loads my saves etc. fine:
Players, myself included, have wanted the ability to chose where the game stores our user data since the game launched, even so far back as TS3. EA have never implemented it and are unlikely to now. You could leave feedback in the Feedback & Discussion forum if you like - https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/bd-p/the-sims-4-game-information-en
Your other option would be to create a symlink to store the Sims 4 folder in another location on your Mac or an external drive.
