@bluemist1 What platform are you on ?
Hi,
yesterday while trying to save storage on my Mac, I clicked a button in system preferences to transfer stuff to iCloud. While doing this, my computer desktop loaded from years ago and my sims 4 game was not working. The computer created a document called My documents on my Mac which I saw my sims 4 folder with all mods, trays, and saves.
I turned off the iCloud thing that messed everything up in the first place. And then I tried to copy and paste that new folder in my “original” sims 4 folder hoping to recover all my mods and sims. So far, my game is still lost and only plays as a new game with none of my sims or mods. Can anyone help? So frustrating.

You can't just copy/paste a folder within the Sim s 4 folder. The game will ONLY read data in specific folders in the the Sims 4 folder which must be in an Electronic Arts folder in the Documents folder. The file structure must look like this:

Thank you! Now I have to figure out how to get to the Macintosh hd. You’re right my game is in my iCloud which it’s not supposed to be. Hopefully once I copy and paste it in the correct place it will work!
if you know how to find the correct folder please share! I’m going to Google how now!

Open a Finder window, click on Go > Go to Folder in the menu bar and enter
~/Documents
This will take you to your Documents folder 🙂
