This is my display settings but I’m not sure the problem comes from my settings but more in the origin or sims app or maybe something in the options there cause I only have that problem when I start playing to the sims 4.
Checking your settings are the default ones means we can discount that as the issue. This is the Mac tech forum so we're checking the machine isn't causing the problem 🙂
Are you using a secondary display hooked up to your Mac?
Are you playing in fullscreen mode? Does the same thing happen in Windowed mode?

I’m only using my Mac, no other display hooked up. Yes I’m playing in fullscreen mode but it doesn’t change anything if I play in windowed mode because the problem happens as soon as I open the game.

It shouldn't happen in Windowed mode as the Mac doesn't flick to a secondary desktop screen. Could you take a screenshot of the game in a window and post it here? - 3 years ago
Yes I just tried and you’re right it doesn’t happen in windowed mode so does that mean I can never play in full screen in order to keep my screen normal ?

I have no idea what is causing it but it is something with the way the OS is dealing with the game in fullscreen mode on your Mac. I've seen a few other reports like this but not many. I've tested on my M1 MacBook Air in fullscreen mode and it doesn't happen.
There's nothing wrong with playing in windowed mode and you can make the game window the size of the desktop.
You could maybe test to see if it is specific settings in your Mac user account by creating a new user account on your Mac and playing in that account to see if it still happens. - 3 years ago
Yes well I’ll stay in windowed mode for now and maybe an update will fix this or someone will come up with a solution but thank you for your help!

But it’s not a bug, it will be either settings on your Mac or could be some other background app overriding the OS settings. If it was a game issue or OS issue it would be affecting everyone. - 3 years ago
And do you have any ideas which settings could be causing this ?
- Bluebellflora3 years agoHero+@Aurore012
Nope. It may some 3rd party software installed causing it.
It may be an SMC issue whereby simply restarting your Mac might reset it.
You could reinstall the OS which would fix any corrupted files that may be causing it.
If you find the cause and a solution, please post back here as it will help others experiencing your issue 🙂 - 2 years ago
Hey! My girlfriend had the same problem with her M1 Macbook air. Did a few research and found this in a post from 2015 (I know it's old) and it work. The problem seems to be from the RETINA in-game option.
- Go to game settings
- Graphic settings
- Unclick RETINA
- Change back to full screen and select the right aspect ratio/resolution
Worked in few seconds, my girlfriend is happy and now I'm her hero.
PS. Going back to play Valorant now
