Could you go into Documents > Electronic Arts and move the Sims 4 folder to the desktop then try to launch the game. Do you still get the error message?
My Mac is a MacBook Air and has maci0s Catalina I have already done this as when I updated my Mac not long ago I could not access sims 4 base game at all and found this solution and it worked.
No not at all this was before I got the expansion pack and I updated my Mac the game still isn’t working
