I bought the game june 2016 and I've never been able to open it, since origin keeps telling me that "the sims 4 is already running" with the errorcode:
[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]
I've already tried reinstalling origin and resetting it. I've checked my task manager and it is not running. I've gotten a new macbook (the touchbar one) and it still tells me that the sims 4 is already running. Help me, please

About a few months ago, I successfully installed my Sims 4 game onto a usb and have been "plugging-in-to-play" the sims 4 without any issues. However, today when I went to open the game after plugging in USB, I received the error code:
Unable to start:
The Sims 4 is already running.
[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]
The only cause I can think of that is recently new to the device, would be that I updated my Mac OS to Monterey Version 12.2.1. I did not have this problem beforehand, and it only recently became an issue after updating. However, when I was updating, my USB was not plugged in.
I have tried the following solutions I have read from other forums and have had no luck. Help is greatly appreciated!
Here is what I have done so far:
• Re-paired the Sims 4 ~ probably about 5x +
• Updated the Sims 4 ~ twice for some reason?
• Disabled Origin in-game
• Force quit Origin multiple times
• Force quit the Sims 4 when the error code shows up
• Re-launched the finder folder
• Logged in and out of Origin
• Created a new Mac user, attempted to run the Sims 4 from there (same error)
• Reset Origin
• Un-installed Origin, deleting all files using the Daisy Disk* Hidden folders app.
• Re-installed Origin
* Between each action I shut-down and re-started my Mac; also emptied the trash; & properly ejected and plugged in the USB *Multiple times*
To be clear, I would prefer to not un-install and re-install the entire game as I have read other forums where they said it did not fix the issue. I also have slow wifi and its a pain to re-download it back onto the USB.
Thank you!!
Erika

Does your game have access to your Documents folder in System Preferences > Files & Folders?
Did you try playing in a new user account on your Mac and allow all permissions when prompted?- 4 years ago
Hey @Bluebellflora,
Both the Sims 4 and Origin have access on both Mac accounts.
