Sims 4 via Origin was moved from PC to SSD, but swap to EA overwrote my file?

I took a break from the Sims for a few months and have tried looking up other similar topics to this but can't find an exact match (or maybe I'm just not understanding the lingo). When I ran Sims via Origin, I followed Crinrict's instructions for moving the game from my PC laptop to my solid state drive. Success! Moved all my saves over without issue. Then my break came and during that time is when Origin changed over to EA for running the Sims. Now I'm back from hiatus and wanting to play again. I forgot about the symbolic link issue since I'd handled it months ago, and installed EA on my SSD in the folder I'd made for my Origin Sims 4 files. Now none of my saves show up when I launch Sims 4 in EA's app. I still see all those old game files, and videos, and screen shots in the folders on my SSD- the tray looks to be intact? But they won't load. When the installer asked where I wanted the EA/Sims4 to be located I selected the same Sims 4 folder I'd made on my SSD- where all my previous Origin-version Sims 4 files were.

You've posted in the Mac forum, are you on a Mac or Windows machine? The game installation is set in Origin/EA App and is nothing to do with the Sims 4 user data folder which contains your saves, mods etc.

The symbolic link is used to create a shortcut to the Sims 4 user data folder stored in any location other than in the Documents > Electronic Arts folder which is the only place the game will look for it. This is nothing to do with Origin/EA App.
