sims not working

once I'm in the game my sims will work and preform one action then after they keep resetting themselves and won't do anything or move. they might start to preform and action I selected then stop half way through I don't know how to fix it. 

I have recently tried to move my sims game from my computer to a external hard rive and I'm not sure if that has effected it or any cc.

    Were you successful? Is your Sims 4 user data folder on the external drive? Is the game installed on the external drive? Or both? Or neither?
