Sims turning invisible

How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All, except Journey to Batuu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just playing the game. Sims, both in the current household and NPC sims, appear invisible.
What happens when the bug occurs? You cannot see the Sims. The plumbob is visible, and if they are holding an object, it is visible. But the Sim itself is invisible.
What do you expect to see? My sims. I expect to see my sims.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. The most recent patch and Snowy Escape installation. They happened at the same time for me, so I'm not sure which one caused the issue. I attempted with mods removed and the issues persist.
The attached image has a townie NPC and a household sim marked by the lump of clay and the plumbob respectively.
