Operating System (Version): MacOS Catalina, updated to MacOS Big Sur. Problem occurred with both.
Mac model: MacBook Air 13-inch, 2017
Processor: 1.8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Memory (RAM): 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
I've also started having spontaneous fires in places they should not occur (roof eaves, etc) that are far away from anything that could cause a fire.

Can you move the Sims 4 folder to the desktop, launch the game to recreate the folder then quit without saving. Now copy just one of your saves into the newly created saves folder and see how it plays in-game.
