UI Issues, Black Boxes on UI in Cas and Map View

To start, I know virtually nothing about programming, but I’ve run into some issues with my sims game in the past and usually, with the help of a few forum posts, I can muddle my way through to a solution. Unfortunately I’ve tried just about EVERYTHING I could find but still can’t find a fix. I downloaded a baby crib mod which was obviously broken when I tested it in game. I removed the broken mod from my game, but when I loaded it back up, the background of Home Screen which is usually white had turned black and my entire mods list had been highlighted in black as well. All the buttons were covered by black boxes and there were small black squares littering the UI. In map view, some if not all of the lots were covered by a black shape representing the building or entirely covered by a black square.

Screenshots of my specs have been attached as well as screenshots of the game showing the issue. I've also been running my game from a 240GB external hard drive since January and I haven't had any problems with my game until now. I’ve had these issues for the last 6 days or so meaning they showed up prior to the latest High School patch. I’m pretty sure the broken crib mod is the culprit, but it has long since been removed from my game. I also recently updated my Mac to Monterey 12.5 about a week ago, but seeing as my game is run from an external I’m not sure if this would cause any issues.

I’ve tried just about everything I’ve come across:

  • Removing the mods folder
  • Deleting the localthumbcache file
  • Repairing the game through origin
  • Turning off origin in game
  • Removing the save folder and generating a new one
  • Removing the Sims 4 folder and generating a new game
  • Uninstalling and then reinstalling the game
  • Uninstalling and then reinstalling the origin app
  • Deleting the Sims 4 file from the Sims 4 package contents and repairing the game through origin
  • Restarting my computer

I’m not quite sure what else to do, but if someone could point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it!

When the game created the new Sims 4 folder, what content did you move back into the folder from your old one?

Could you upload your save to a file sharing site such as Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive and PM me the link so I can test in my game.

When I took out the old sims 4 folder I didn't add anything back in. I only removed it, started up the game, and allowed it to generate a new one. I'll upload the save and send you a link though.

Thanks for the TS4 folder 🙂

I tried just the save in a new TS4 folder and then your whole TS4 folder with the save. It all loaded fine and looked normal to me so the problem must be something on your Mac.

Apple released a Monterey update on the 20th July. When did you update your OS? Does it coincide with this problem starting? If I were you I would reinstall Monterey over the top of the existing installation to fix any corrupt or missing OS files.
