Unable to create any new saves

Since the June 30th patch I haven't been able to create any new saves in Sims 4. I can open to the gameplay menu and open my current saved files but anytime I start to create a new household in CAS the game freezes for a few seconds and then my mac restarts. 

I am able to open Create a Sim when in any household, and can move between households easily when playing with an established family. I recently downloaded Enchanted by Nature and Life & Death and was super keen to try out the new gameplay with a new save file. 

I don't use any mods, and this wasn't a problem before the patch.
