unable to play - Continuous redownloading, reinstalling and verifying games

I have a Mac and am trying to play the sim 4 that I have purchased. Played on a variety of occasions but since December have had issues. It keeps uninstalling, and needing updates that won't work and therefore can't play. So anytime I get on my origin download I'm having to either download, install, update or verify the game. It never seems to get past either preparing the download or 0% progress. I have uninstalled and reinstalled origin, and tried using different connections (nothing is wrong with my internet though). I have also attempted to use an external hard drive. Have no clue if this is a common issue and how to fix it?! any help appreciated. thanks!!

Where is the game installed to now? Have you moved a folder called Sims 4 Packs? The base game and the Sims 4 Packs folder (contains your Packs) must be installed in the same location, When you install on an external drive, Origin will verify and sometimes repair the game files if you have unplugged the drive at some point before launching Origin.

Atm it should be on the hard drive but I can’t see it. A lot of my stuff is on the cloud or an external hard drive and when I did play it last it would only work when the external hard drive was plugged in which it currently is. It’s saying it preparing for a download but has remained on 0% for the last 7 hours.

It’s not working. I managed to get on some chat with them but it wasn’t working. Everything suggested just didn’t work. Unsure what to do 😭

Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

    find / -type d -name "*The Sims 4*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. This will search your whole Mac as well as any plugged in drives. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.
