Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

Hey I have the same problem, I just bought sims 4 a week ago, I have been playing 3 times, and now it says "the game is already running". I have tried repairing it in origin, that didn't help. I moved the sims 4 folder (I found in electronic arts) to my desktop, and it worked. But now I have to start all over. Nothing was saved. I can only play a couple times in the new game, before it starts saying "the game is already running" again. In that way I have to start over every third time. Can you please help me?
