Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

@DizzyDee-K Please help. I put the folder in the trash as someone told me to do, but then I removed it from the trash and put it on desktop. Then I pressed on the folder and my sims now works but now all of my game and sims have gone. I have tried to put that folder back into documents where another EA folder is but it just goes into it and doesn't replace the new folder. Please help I'm not sure what to do and everything has disappeared.

You have to replace the newly created Sims 4 folder in the Electronic Arts folder with the old one you moved. But that may bring the error back.
