Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

Please post screenshots showing the granted permissions. And also showing the Origin permissions too in Full Disk Access.

Thanks! If your game is installed on an external drive it needs permission to access the external drive. Yours doesn’t.

  Oh my gosh!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. My whole game is working now almost perfectly. there's one more little thing though...when I'm in CAS mode some of the thumbnails for my expansion/packs clothes' don't work. If you think it's nothing to worry about I will take your word but if it's an easy fix, let me know what I could do, please. God Bless you

  I just followed the tutorial on playing from a hard drive. My hardrive is formated to APFS and I have a macbook pro m1 with sonoma 14.1.1. Everything worked fine, my alias file is where it should and the game launched normally.
  When I checked the enable mods box and tried to reopen the game it gave me an error "unable to start game data missing or damaged". I have tried to take my mods out one by one but the game still won't launch if I leave any mods there.
  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Move out the Mods folder, trash the localthumbcache.package file then launch the game so a new one is created. Quit the game and re-download one of the Mods, don’t use an existing copy.
