Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

I just switched over from Origin to EA since the game made me, but now it is giving me the following when trying to open the game:

Unable to start:

The Sims™ 4 is already running.

[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]

I have already removed my mods and repaired the game in the EA app and still getting the same issue.
