Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

Oh okay. Yes the game has full disk access but it still wouldn't launch. Instead of giving the error, it would load for around 30 secs and then close on its own (never fully opened). I tried reversing the symlink and doing it again but in terminal it keeps saying "file exists".

Closing before fully opening is often a Mod issue.

It will say file exists if there is a file with the same name in the location you’re moving or directing to.
