Unknown Error Occurred AND Download stuck at 100% on a MAC

Okay...I am seeing a lot of people asking this but no actual solution.

I have spent the ENTIRE day downloading the sims 3 and many many packs and working with support to get all the product codes. When I was done with the base game I started the launcher and it opened. It then prompted me to update. Okay. I updated it to what I am assuming is the most current patch. Then while I'm downloading and installing the EP and GP it tells me it might not be compatible with the base game because it is newer than expected?

I kept installing. Finally I was done and I clicked to start the launcher and a popup window appears saying an unknown error occurred. No launcher. It does this when I try and start the game from origin as well EXCEPT...when I start it from origin it actually tells me that there may be problems with the game because there is a download in progress. EVERYTHING is 100% downloaded. I have no idea if the unknown error is because of the download issue or if it's two separate problems but needless to say...I REFUSE to uninstall everything and have to start all over.

I am using a MacBook Pro mid 2010 running OS Sierra version 10.12.3

Okay so I did a lot more digging and tried a few other things and FINALLY got it to work!

    First: I watched this video

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/F3T-Z492Hjo?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I followed all the steps and moved all the missing folders. For me, it was Ambitions, Outdoor Living AND Late Night. I was able to get all those moved.

Next, I clicked on each individual expansion pack because apparently they all had updates but since I couldn't open my launcher at the time, I had been unable to do that already. So, I believe moving the folders helped with the Unknown Error and I'm guessing that updating all the expansion packs helped with the stuck at 100% thing.
