Will Sims 4 slowdown my Mac?

Hi! I have a Macbook air m2 chip with 8 ram and about a 193 GB left of storage and I want to know if running the Sims 4 with virtually all the EPs, a fair few GP, some stuff packs and some CC mods like Pandasama's better birth mod, will impact the Mac's performance. Will installing all this slow it down? I usually play on a much old HP laptop (like 11 years old nearly) but she's starting to find it difficult to run everything and am considering moving it to my Mac. However, if there's any chance of damaging the battery life or the speed of the mac then I probably won't.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

No, as soon as you switch from TS4 to another app the operating system will throttle processing power to a minimum to the game and ramp up power to the active app. The same goes for memory usage too. This is especially prevalent on the ARM equipped (M-series Apple silicon) Macs which are incredibly efficient and macOS which is now designed for these new generation Macs. It's never a good idea to have a game running in the background though if you're going to be doing something else for a while on any machine. Quit the game and relaunch it when needed.

You should never play for extended periods using the battery, always have it plugged in.

Yes you Mac will slow down other tasks while you play the Sims 4. That is how things work. If you start a large number of programs you may eventually be unable to start a new program until you have ended one or more of the already running programs.
