1.68.154.1020 broke the audio

What happens when the bug occurs? loud distorted audio, kinda creepy, unpleasant.

so basically today (11/12/2020) i got up and installed the new sims 4 update (1.68.154.1020) and got on my game and played. i went and progressed for a few hours (1 or 2) then out of nowhere during the Romance Faire event i was at, the audio started to distort. all the people talking, music from the musicians, even the button clicks for the time menu. i assumed it was a bug so i just restarted the game and continued until i got to a completely different lot (way less noise) and then MY EARDRUMS GOT BLOWN OUT! by audio tearing or something. i know it was sims because i ripped my headset off and tabbed out, the screeching stopped. i did however check for an update after, there wasnt one, i also clicked on repair game in origin launcher settings and it made me redownload alot of files for all the content listed in the "What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? ⭐" section of this bug report.
[note i do have some mods but 90% of them are clothing and junk and the other 10% are script based but that fact is irrelevant because just days ago everything worked fine]
