10-22-2024 patch update not showing up

Hi everybody. The update from last night seemed to go through just fine and I was SOOO excited for the base game updates. I opened the game after playing and sadly everything is still the same. No options to change occults in CAS or to choose type of death, etc. I have tried doing a repair, restarting the computer, clearing the cache. I have no mods. I saw that someone said to try running something as an administrator but I don't know how to do that and wouldn't know what to do after that even if I did.  I'm not sure if this could be part of the problem, but I currently have it installed to my D drive right now, vs my C.

Does anyone know of any other options? Will a deinstall and reinstall help at all? I'm not a very technically savvy person so I am riding the struggle bus for sure lol

  • Just leaving an update here.

    I had my intended to have all my game files in my D drive, but as I'm a novice I didn't do a full conversion so had my game packs downloaded in D and the files in Documents in my C; nor did I remember to make my D drive the default for future use. SO I though the patch must have gone to C when the files it was patching up were in D. I then uninstalled everything, reinstalled everything and let it all go to the default C drive and opened it before adding any saved files.

    It's still not there.

  • @wyhone1972 Did you try to start a new save? I'm not sure the new patch features are retroactive for pre-existing saves. For your other tech issues, I can't help...
  • @wyhone1972  What version number do you see in the lower-right corner of the Main Menu?

    Please also let me know whether it helps to play in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and have a look around.

    Just in case it's relevant, please also make sure that you're looking for the new base game features, not anything that's supposed to come with the new expansion.

    The fact that you installed Sims 4 on D is irrelevant here.  The game's program files and your user folder are always separate and can be on separate drives; it doesn't make any difference.

    @GiardiniDiMarzo I did try to create a new save when I reinstalled the game but since I didn't note any changes I went ahead and added the one I had backed up

    @puzzlezaddictIt says: Version 1.110.265.1030 DX11

    When the update was complete and I'd read the patch notes, the first thing I did when I opened my game was to check out the new ways to change occults in CAS and the cause of death, but they weren't there. The option to toggle or make ghosts and the life event item is also not there. I don't know about the other features but I'm assuming they aren't either.

    I can try making a new save tonight and see what happens. I appreciate any and all help :-)

    @wyhone1972  Your game is fully patched then.  If the new save doesn't have the new features, please do try a clean user folder.

    @puzzlezaddict  I did try a new save when I reinstalled the game. Does that count or is it better to try another one? I hate to sound so obtuse but as I'm so poorly versed on this stuff I thought I'd better check
