Accidentally deleted my entire save trying to factory reset

I was trying to troubleshoot endless loading screens with factory reset using this guide: https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/READ-FIRST-Troubleshooting-your-Game/m-p/3621199?error=ACCESS_DENIED&error_code=102122&error_description=Access+Denied

But instead of copying my Sims 4 folder to the desktop, I just dragged it out and restarted the game. Now it won't open that folder or copy it and there's no previous versions to restore. Have I just lost my entire game?

  • @simsical-musical  Try restarting your computer.  If that doesn't help, open a File Explorer window, open the Desktop folder in the left panel, and then add this to the address bar, after Desktop:

    \The Sims 4\saves

    or

    \The Sims 4\Tray

The idea is to try to get around the error by opening a subfolder.  This will only work for certain kinds of problems, but it's easy enough to try.

If that doesn't help, can you right-click the folder and select Properties?  If so, please post a screenshot of what you see under Properties > General.
