Accidentally overwrote current sims 4 saves with old ones
Hi! I’ve been playing the Sims 4 on a windows PC since 2019, and two other computers previously. Earlier this year I wanted to look at old save files from 2017 that I had previously thought were lost. I transferred them from one my old computers to my current laptop and was able to look at my game from a 2017. However, now my current saves from 2021 are not showing up when I open the game. From the research I’ve done I think my old save files from 2017 have over written my save files from 2021. However, I have no idea how to fix that. Help is much appreciated. I’m devastated 🥺 I’ve tried looking in my recycle bin and moved them around several times. I’ve tried taking out all of the files from 2017 and just running the ones from 2021 but then it says that I have no progress - previous loads- in the game menu. Frankly, I have no idea what I’m doing!
@claire_feather Are there any saves in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves that have dates corresponding to the missing saves? What about in OneDrive, if you use it?
You can also search your computer: open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search bar in the upper right corner. This will turn up any and all saves on your computer; check the dates to distinguish among them. If you do find a missing save, click on it, click "Open file location," and you'll land in the folder where that save is. From there, you can move that save and any others you find back to the correct saves folder.
