Error Code 0
Hello!
I have just started playing The Sims 4 again after having it for a few years and each time I try to start a new game, I am unable to save the game. Each time I get "error code 0" and then if I try to exit to the main menu or exit the game, I lose the entire save. If I make a change to the house, such as adding a bed, and then travel to another location, the bed will be gone and the house will be reverted to how it was originally. I have no saved games at the moments, so I don't think it is a storage issue. I contacted EA Help and tried the following troubleshoots:
Use the "Save As" Feature Instead of using the regular save, try saving your game with "Save As" to create a new save file. This often bypasses the error by creating a fresh save slot. After that, you can delete the old problematic save.
2. Check and Disable Antivirus Folder Protection Some antivirus programs have folder protection features that block the game from writing save files. Disable folder protection or temporarily turn off your antivirus before launching the game.
3. Clear Cache Files Corrupted cache can cause saving errors.
4. Move or Remove Mods If you have mods, they can cause save errors. Temporarily move your entire Mods folder out of the Sims 4 directory and test saving again. If this fixes the issue, add mods back one by one to find the culprit.
5. Move or Delete the Options.ini File Sometimes the options.ini file in your Sims 4 folder can cause issues. Move it to your desktop and restart the game to generate a fresh one.
6. Repair the Game Use your game client (Origin, EA App, Steam) to repair the Sims 4 installation to fix corrupted files.
7. Check Save File Versions If your save files have multiple .ver backup files (e.g., .ver0, .ver1), try deleting these versioned backups or renaming the main save file to remove .ver extensions as corrupted backups can cause errors.
8. Ensure Windows and Game Are Updated Make sure your Windows OS and The Sims 4 are fully updated to avoid compatibility issues.
I had no success. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the same, and deleting my antivirus software. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas! I have no saved games, so I have nothing to lose.
